Protection without light loss

LED profiles are often used in environments where moisture, dust and temperature fluctuations play a role. By potting the electronics, a durable protection is created that extends the system’s service life. At the same time, the casting resin must remain sufficiently clear so that the light output is preserved.

Choosing the right casting resin depends on several factors. The distance between the LEDs, the profile dimensions, the desired hardness and whether the application is used indoors or outdoors determine which solution fits best. Appearance also plays a role. Depending on the application, the casting resin can be supplied fully transparent, diffuse or in a specific colour. Each choice affects the light distribution and the final result.

For LED profiles, we recommend, among others, Permacol 2150, a crystal-clear epoxy casting resin with excellent UV resistance, and Permacol 5450, a crystal-clear polyurethane casting resin that does not discolour and is available in various colours. Together we will determine which casting resin best matches your application and the desired light output.
