UV adhesives for PMMA (Plexiglas, acrylic)
For bonding polymethyl methacrylate (better known as PMMA, Plexiglas, or simply acrylic), Permacol offers several options. For ultra-fast bonding, there are Permacol 3530 and 3540. Permacol 3530 cures to a tack-free surface and is highly suitable for indoor applications. Permacol 3540 does not cure to a tack-free surface, but thanks to its relatively high Tg it is highly water-resistant and suitable for outdoor use. These adhesives are also very suitable for bonding PMMA to glass, metal, or other plastics.
The 3510 series consists of adhesives based on methyl methacrylate, the raw material from which PMMA is made. During curing, the adhesive itself polymerizes into PMMA. Bonding PMMA with PMMA creates a joint stronger than any other adhesive and is highly resistant to water and chemicals. These adhesives have a curing time around 10 minutes. The Permacol 3510 series provides a bond that is just as clear as the PMMA itself.
